  • 3 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and IDP returnees. 76% of which are women and children
  • 8 million people (60%) are food insecure. Out of these 8.4 million are severely food insecure and at risk of starvation
  • 8 million children and 1.1 million pregnant or lactating women are acutely malnourished, including approximately 400,000 children under age 5 who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition
  • 16 million people (55%) lack access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene
  • 4 million people (56%) lack access to adequate healthcare
  • Only 50% of the health facilities are functioning and even these face severe shortages in medicines, equipment, and staff
  • Yemen risks sliding into famine and further disease outbreaks
  • The cholera outbreak that started in 2016 affected 306 out of 333 districts. Since April 2017 over 1 milllion suspected cholera cases and over 2,000 associated deaths have been reported

World Relief Germany has been providing humanitarian and development services to vulnerable communities since 1998. • Trained more than 2,000 first responders (mostly women) in First Aid. This project was conducted in partnership with more than 20 local partners in conflict-affected governorates
  • Delivered 22 tons (55 palettes) of essential medicines and medical supplies donations to 9 Ministry of Public Health & Population (MoPHP) health facilities in 2 governorates in Yemen. Most of these medicines and medical supplies supported the recent cholera outbreak.
